About the Role
The SAP S/4HANA Navy ERP Financial Analyst (Subject Matter Expert) provides advanced functional, financial, and technical expertise in support of the Navy’s ERP modernization efforts. This role focuses on bridging Navy financial-management requirements with SAP S/4HANA capabilities, ensuring accurate configuration, compliant processes, and audit-ready data as the Department of the Navy transitions from ECC to S/4HANA and aligns to ERP+ objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a functional SME on SAP S/4HANA finance modules (FI, CO, FM, GM, and related integrations) supporting Navy ERP modernization.
Translate Navy financial, budget, cost, and audit requirements into S/4HANA functional configurations, process designs, and system enhancements.
Support the development of end-to-end business processes across Funds Management, General Ledger, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Cost Management, and PP&E/Asset Management.
Lead and participate in design workshops, gap analyses, blueprinting sessions, and fit-to-standard reviews.
Analyze legacy ECC processes and help architect S/4HANA-compatible solutions for Navy audit readiness, internal controls, and FIAR/FIP alignment.
Work closely with developers to create functional specifications and validate technical solutions.
Develop test plans, execute functional testing (SIT/UAT), and ensure successful deployment of S/4HANA releases.
Provide expertise on interfaces and data flows between Navy ERP and external systems (e.g., SABRS, STARS, DPAS, PIEE, Advana, BEV/DARQ).
Support data migration mapping, reconciliation, cutover activities, and validation of financial data in S/4HANA.
Prepare documentation including process maps, SOPs, configuration guides, and audit support deliverables.
Deliver stakeholder briefings, training sessions, and executive-level updates.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, information systems, business, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
7–12+ years supporting SAP financial modules, including substantial experience with S/4HANA (public-sector or DoD environment preferred).
Demonstrated expertise in FI/CO and one or more of: Funds Management, Grants Management, Asset Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Project Systems, or Treasury.
Experience supporting Navy ERP, DoD financial systems, or large-scale federal ERP implementations.
Strong understanding of federal accounting standards (USSGL), DoD FIAR/FIP requirements, internal controls, and audit readiness.
Ability to work in complex, cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and financial stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
Navy ERP (SAP ECC 6.0) migration experience or prior support of DON commands (NAVSUP, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, NAVFAC, USMC).
Experience with SAP Activate methodology, Solution Manager, or Agile DevSecOps environments.
Knowledge of data-conversion tools, financial reconciliations, and audit remediation processes.
Certifications such as SAP S/4HANA Finance, CPA, CGFM, CDFM, or PMP.
